For me, as a writer, storyteller, artist, actress, and filmmaker, the pull of cinema is almost tidal. I am drawn toward it the way a sailor is drawn toward the horizon—restless, searching, compelled. Each story is a voyage, each scene a star by which we navigate what it means to be human. Film is a canvas without edges. It breaks the frame of our small lives and thrusts us into other worlds: dystopias lit in neon, tender rooms where a single word changes a destiny, deserts that stretch into forever. It is both telescope and microscope, granting us a wider sky and a sharper intimacy.

As an artist, I have always been fascinated by the subtle maps of human behavior. How we reach for one another, how we betray, how we yearn, how we endure. Philosophy is not only written in books—it is etched in the choices of a character, in the silence before a line of dialogue. These are the truths that sit beneath all our stories, the ancient pulse of humanity dressed in new costumes.

This is the core of my work at Solo Films: to hold up these truths and ask, again and again, Who are we? What do we long for? What lies just beyond the horizon of our understanding? My films, my books, my stories—they are vessels launched into that wide sea.

And so, film matters to me because it is a compass. It points us back toward one another, toward empathy, toward the strange and beautiful fact of being alive at all. It is not simply my career; it is my calling.
